Welcome to the very first edition of Rachel’s Reflections.

I decided to start this weekly blog for a few reasons. First, because so much happens inside the walls of our little studio — from inspiring conversations and breakthroughs, to powerful moments of community — and I wanted to create a space to share more of that with all of you. And second, because I’ve seen how important connection is. Not just the sweaty, high-five kind of connection in a workout class (although we love those too), but the kind that comes from hearing someone’s story and thinking, me too.

So each Sunday morning, I’ll be here sharing a little reflection — from our studio, from my own heart, and from the many women who inspire me every day at Mobility.

This week, I can’t help but reflect on something that’s been at the centre of our Summer PassportChallenge: your why.

We asked our challengers to share their reason for showing up, for moving their body, for putting themself first. And the responses? Some were one sentence, others were a full page. But every single one of them was beautiful and inspiring. So WHY make a healthy lifestyle a priority? Here’s just a few short answers we saw:

To be healthy.
To live longer.
To be a good role model for my kids.To chase grandkids through the backyard. To stay off medication. To manage anxiety and depression.

To walkup the stairs at work without huffing and puffing. To reclaim a piece of myself that feels lost in the chaos of life.

I read every single one, and I felt something stir in me — a deep knowing that this is why I do what I do.

I started thinking about my own “why.”
It goes back to when I was a kid, growing up in a family where women I loved struggled with severe obesity. I didn’t understand it fully back then, but I remember wishing they would get help — not because of what they looked like, but because I watched them struggle and it hurt my heart.

I remember one day walking through the mall with my mom when I was about 12. Some teenage girls made hurtful comments about her weight. My mom, in her gentle way, told me to ignore it. But it stayed with me. I didn’t know how to process it then, but deep down,I promised myself I’d never let that be the story for me — and if I could, I’d help other women write a different one too.

That said, I’ll be the first to admit I am far from perfect.I struggle with my weight too…. I’m up and down on the scale regularly, but it’s not just about weight. For me, it comes down to sleeping well, having energy, less physical pain, and staying independent for as long as I possibly can. It’s about the journey, not the destination. And it’s about never giving up- because you never fail as long as you keep getting back on the horse, right?!My own journey is a whole other blog for another time, but I always want to be open and honest about not only my past but my current struggles too.

So yes, my why has always been rooted from my childhood. But over the years, it has evolved. And now, it mirrors so many of yours.

Freedom that comes from a healthy, active lifestyle.

Freedom to feel good in our bodies.

To age with strength and confidence.

To dance at our grandchildren’s weddings.

To take the stairs confidently.

To wake up without pain.

To say yes to adventures.

To feel proud.

To feel capable.

To feel like ourselves- our own identity, outside of work and kids and all of life’s other responsibilities.

And that’s what I want for every single woman who walks through our doors.

It’s why I created Mobility.

It’s why I love our community so deeply.

When you know your why, it keeps you showing up — even when life is busy, even when motivation dips, evenwhen your schedule is packed and you’re tired. Because it’s not just about getting in a workout. It’s about how you want to live.

And let’s be honest —taking care of yourself is hard. Especially when you’re always taking care ofeveryone else. But hear me when I say:

It is not selfish to carve out time for you.

In fact, it’s the opposite. When you pour into yourself, everyone around you benefits. Your family. Your coworkers.Your partner. Your kids. You can’t pour from an empty cup — and you don’t have to run on empty to prove you’re doing enough.

That’s something I’ve seen over and over again this summer, especially through the Summer PassportChallenge. Watching your “why” statements, your gratitude lists, your affirmations — it’s been like witnessing a ripple effect of women choosing themselves. Cheering each other on. Uplifting one another. It’s been nothing short of incredible.

That’s the magic of our community.
We are women of all ages, from all walks of life, united by one shared goal: tolive better. And with this, we support each other, and we grow- together.

If you’re not part of that yet — we’ve always got space for you.
We welcome new faces with warm smiles and high fives. Whether you're just getting started or ready to dive back in, your why matters here.

So this week, take a moment.

Reconnect with your why.

Write it down. Say it out loud. Keep it close.

Because you matter.

Your health, your happiness, your future — it’s all worth fighting for.

Until next Sunday,

~Rach xo
