If you’ve ever walked into a class and been greeted by a warm smile, a friendly “you’ve got this,” or the quiet kind of encouragement that somehow makes everything feel doable… chances are, you’ve met Tanya.
Tanya joined us just over nine months ago, walking through our doors with a heart full of nerves and a whole lot of courage. She had never stepped foot in a gym before—not once. She didn’t know what a chest fly was, didn’t know anyone here, and wasn’t sure she’d fit in.Her hands were shaking, her heart racing… not because of the workout, but because she was so nervous!
Knowing it was way out of her comfort zone….she showed up anyway.
She stood in a room of strangers who, in her eyes looked “so far ahead” in fitness, wondering if she belonged. And thenSheila turned, smiled, and said the words of encouragement that changed everything:
“It gets easier. Just keep showing up.”
So she did.
One class, then another.
One small win at a time.
One moment of fear slowly becoming confidence.
As an empty-nester who has spent 25 years running a home daycare and pouring everything into her three kids, Tanya was entering a new chapter of life. She wanted to age powerfully, feel strong, and live better—not smaller, not “younger,” not even necessarily longer…. just better. And she was determined to find herself again.
She started with light weights, still dealing with shoulder issues, and admittedly didn’t love WOW (Women on Weights class) at first. But WOW became the first place she saw her progress—the first time she picked up heavier weights and shocked herself. Those tiny victories added up fast. Her confidence grew. Her strength grew. And her belief in herself grew. Now WOW is one of her favorites and she has been seen lifting 30pound dumbbells, when 9 months ago she started with three pound weights.
Before long, the quiet, shy member in the back row became one of the most encouraging, uplifting, community-building women on our mats.
She connects easily.
She cheers other women on.
She welcomes the newbies standing where she once stood.
She makes people feel safe.
And she leads by example—humble, kind, and quietly powerful.
One of the proudest moments for all of us was the night all the instructors were downstairs in a training workshop andTanya was asked to lead the group through a class so they could still get a workout in. She was terrified. But the moment she started, she slipped into the role with ease—strong, calm, and confident. Watching her guide the room with care and pride was a full-circle moment none of us will forget.
Today, Tanya stands as living proof that it’s never too late, you’re never too inexperienced, and you’re never too “out of place” to start. She reminds us that showing up—even scared—is enough to change your life inside and out.
She says she’s most proud of her confidence, discipline, consistency, balance, and becoming the best version of herself—the strongest she’s ever been. But we’re proud of so much more:
Her heart. Her humility. Her courage.
Her willingness to grow.
The way she lifts every woman around her.
The community she’s helped build.
Tanya, you are everything we hope this space can be for women—supportive, empowering, uplifting, and brave. Thank you for being such an important part of the Mobility family and for reminding us that the magic happens when we simply keep showing up.
Congratulations on catching our Member Spotlight for this month!! We love ya girl!!
